 What is ZumbAtomic?

ZumbAtomic fuses dance, music and exercise together to create a fun, healthy program for children. It is based on the Zumba® Fitness concept, and is 100% kid friendly. The goal is to help kids develop a healthy lifestyle, to incorporate fitness as a natural part of children’s lives and not just a class they attend once or twice a week. ZumbAtomic considers the whole child and includes learning: leadership, respect, team work, pride, confidence, responsibility, coordination, balance, discipline, memory and creativity. It includes dance routines, games, exercise and pure fun!

Zumba®, it is a Latin-inspired, dance-fitness class that incorporates Latin and International music and dance movements, which create a dynamic, exciting and effective fitness system. Zumba®, is exercise in disguise and meant to feel like a party. One of the next levels for Zumba®, was to create a program specifically for children. The name for this program is ZumbAtomic.

Thoughts about Childhood Obesity and Exercise for our Children

Thoughts about Childhood Obesity and Exercise for our Children
  • From the Surgeon General’s Office:  “To date more than 12.5 million children and adolescents - 17.1%  of people ages 2-19 are overweight.” “As they grow older, overweight, children and adults are more likely to have risk factors associated with cardiovascular disease such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol and Type 2 Diabetes.” “Overweight adolescents have a 70 percent chance of becoming overweight or obese adults.”
  • According to the National Association for Sport and Physical Education, kids ages 3-5 should accumulate at least 60 minutes of daily structured physical activity. Kids ages 5-12 should accumulate at least 60 minutes and up to several hours, of age-appropriate physical activity on all, or most days of the week.
  • Exercise improves mood and helps kids focus on learning. It helps kids pay attention, plan, and resist distractions.  It has a positive correlation between physical fitness and cognitive performance. It helps kids have a better positive outlook on life. It helps kids from becoming overweight. It helps kids sleep better, and better able to handle physical and emotional challenges.
